or more appropriately Aristides Pereira International Airport. The Departures area can accommodate approximately one flight load. The Duty Free shop is quite small with a limited selection. A brief look at Rabil village and the passport control queue of the recent arrivals can be seen
Great landing on a great island Sal is a place to visit for sun beaches and warm welcomes. it comes complete with an "Africa simulator" i.e go on the road trip round the island, desert, serengetti, mirages, salt lakes, lots of things to experience on this wonderful 15 mile ling island.
Amazing view of sunny and warm Sal. Especially when you arrive in middle of a Dutch cold winter. First to see is the rough and deserted north coast. Then the salt mines, or Pedra Lume, with behind the capital Espargos and the Airport. Eventually we can see Santa Maria, this is were all tourist will celebrate there holidays on Sal. My girlfriend and I visited Cape Verde (via Lisbon) from London in November 2015. We spent a few days in Sal and São Vicente and a week at Tarrafel in Santo Antão and had a great time. Claudia 's parents are from Cape Verde and she had never visited before so it was a good opportunity to experience a little of her heritage.
Cape Verde was a stopover for ships travelling between Europe and the rest of the world for centuries. It used to be a Portuguese colony, and today still retains the language and cultural affinities with its former overlord. It’s one of the most well developed countries in Africa and it’s also becoming a top tourism destination. You can now support this channel via Patreon, by accessing the link bellow. The Killer Waves along the Beach of the Riu Touareg Hotel provide hours of entertainment for the daring who enjoy trying to defeat the power of the sea or the feeling of a total wipeout, while less adventurous enjoy watching the power of nature and it's relentless crashing sounds as the waves brreak and pound the golden beach.
